🎉Last Sunday, The Shiatsu College Brighton branch, hosted a Graduation Ceremony & Celebration for Rebecca Lopez Winter. She is now the proud owner of a Level 4 Diploma in Professional Shiatsu. We are over joyed at her achievement and wish her well in all her future endeavours. Thank you to all the teachers, assistants and fellow students that supported her over her three years of study. 🎉

Ivan Bel’s ‘Spirit of Shiatsu’

I received Ivan Bel’s newly translated book ‘The Spirit of Shiatsu’ from the publishers ‘Singing Dragon’ with a request to review it and share my thoughts.
I can not say I have read every single word; for like most reference books the desire to jump sections, scan read, jump to another section and get lost in a paragraph or two is a very delicious & natural activity with this book. As a relatively new Shiatsu teacher of five years now, I am constantly searching for references to double check my lesson plans: a few facts here, the correct terminology there. So to have another fine book on Shiatsu to draw from, with many sections to delve into and be inspired or backed up with, is a delight. Many subjects, categories, and themes. Wonderful tips for working with clients and focussing on your own health.
It’s definitely an education in places. Nothing’s better than expanding your Shiatsu mind - ‘the more we learn, we realise the less we know’. I can happily recommend this book - it’s fine for a Shiatsu beginner, a student or a practitioner and of course a teacher too. Managable and very readable, chunk sized sections of theory, thoughts and practice. Beautiful illustrations by Abigail Maneché. I continue to read. #singingdragonbooks

And did you know that both Barbara and John were trained as professional Shiatsu practitioners by The Shiatsu College. We are especially excited and proud as Barbara started her career in Shiatsu training at Shiatsu College Brighton. We wish them both well in their new responsibility and look forward to Barbara Bond popping back to see us soon for a college weekend at The Brighton branch😊.
